trockenpressen

Ich brauch der Kabel fur Foto-Galvano Trockenpressen!

Niall
Hallo Niall,

If anyone can give a translation of the above two posts

in ENGLISH I would be very grateful!

Niall
Dear Niall,

don't ask german when you want to have english answers, but no problem.

You need for your dryer a so called "Hei?er?estecker"that is a special plug, you can buy such plugs in a Do-it-yourself store (i hope thats the right word).

Ask for the older version of this plug, the actual plug must befrom ceramic material.

The other things in the text aren't important it's more a little bit funny stuff.

If you want to use the dryer in the United States, you will have a big Problem, this plugs are probably not to available and you have an other voltage (110 volts in the States and 220 volts in Germany)

I hope it is clear but I am not really good in English.

yours faithfully

Werner
Hi Niall,

of course. My English is subject to ongoing corrosion so don't mind any mistakes:-)

In fact I don't know anything about VEB Galvano dryers but own an old one from Buescher. In German, we have two kinds of plugs for those machines: "Kaltger?estecker" (inlet connector for non-heating apparatus ?) and "Hei?er?estecker". "Kaltger?estecker" is the one on your computer's power supply, "Hei?er?estecker" looks like this: (don't mind the photo...) heissgeraete.jpg. My bathroom tiles are 25x25cm.

Werner added, that normal soldering shouldn't work because of high temperature inside the plug (your dryer gets quite hot I guess). I cannot confirm this, mine works. I soldered mine just like any other device. But, plugs with screw-on cable are much more common indeed.

Those plugs have been used on older german irons or waffle irons. Like Werner wrote, they've been made from caramic or bakelite-type plastics.

If you won't manage to get a proper plug, try to use (and keep serious risks of both life and health in mind!!!) two banana plugs attached to a cable. I hope Werner won't read this;-)

Best regards and greetings from Sindelfingen,

Franz

To all: Niall asked me to answer in english. He doesn't read German so well. Translation of this posting in German language follows below.)

Hier f?r alle, die ggf. weniger gut Englisch lesen k?nen, die deutsche ?ersetzung:

Hi Niall,

nat?rlich.

Werner will have read this right now).

Franz

Thanx for your fullsome reply to my question!

I live in Ireland so the voltage would be about the same as yours in Germany!

However ,I think that plug would be only be available in

Germany!

So my next question is can any of you people get me one of these plugs!

I take it foto-Galvano is no longer in bussiness!

Thank for you help on this matter!

Niall

Sorry for asking the Question in German, din't mean to cause offence!
Hi Niall,

are you sure this plug fits? If so, mail me your address I'll try to get one.

Greetings from Sindelfingen,

Franz
Zitat:Werner added, that normal soldering shouldn't work because of high temperature inside the plug (your dryer gets quite hot I guess). I cannot confirm this, mine works. I soldered mine just like any other device. But, plugs with screw-on cable are much more common indeed.
Do never solder plugs with currents above... 50 Volts, I think? The current can heat and melt the soldering agent, increasing the resistance even further and thus flash and burn down your home quite easily - while the fire insurance will have fits laughing. This is one of the reasons why the law states that only experts are allowed to tamper with such things. When I read "soldering", the hair on the back of my neck stood straight up. <img src='http://forum.fotoimpex.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':o' />

And a "Kaltger?estecker" is a "Buisness Machine Connector" in english - but you need the other kind, it seems.

Franz, Tipp f?rs Leben: Tausch den Stecker aus!
Franz,

Werner
